Mining Resume Builder for Australian Mine Sites
Mining covers a wide range of jobs — plant operators, drillers, maintainers, electricians, processing operators, geologists' field assistants, supervisors and more — across open-cut, underground and processing operations. Whether you drive in, drive out or fly in, fly out, the resume needs to speak the language of the site you're applying to.
Cailin Connex helps you put together a mining resume that is accurate, easy to scan and ready for the screening software many mining employers use.

What mining employers look for on a resume
- Site type and commodity — open-cut, underground or processing; iron ore, gold, coal, lithium and so on.
- The specific equipment, tools or systems you've worked with.
- Current qualifications, licences and competencies relevant to the role.
- A safety mindset: inductions, permits, isolations, pre-starts and hazard reporting.
- Reliability — tenure, rosters worked and references.
Presenting qualifications and competencies
Many operator and production roles refer to nationally recognised units from the Resources and Infrastructure (RII) training package. If you hold units like these, list the unit code and title exactly as they appear on your statement of attainment, so the reader can verify them.
Trade roles are judged more on your trade certificate and licences (for example an electrical licence), while professional roles focus on degrees and registrations. Include what applies to your role — you don't need RII units for every mining job.
Operating a machine isn't the same as holding the ticket
If you've operated a machine but don't hold the formal competency, describe the experience in your work history and leave it out of your qualifications list. Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is one way to get existing experience formally assessed.
Describing equipment and site experience
Be specific. "Operated excavators" tells a recruiter far less than a clear line that names the machine class, the work (loading trucks, bulk excavation, trenching) and the environment.
Weak: Operated heavy machinery on site.
Clearer: Loaded haul trucks with a 120-tonne excavator on a day/night roster in an open-cut gold operation; completed daily pre-start checks and reported defects.
Only include tonnages, models and figures you know to be accurate.
Mining resumes for other roles
Maintenance, processing, admin, safety, camp and logistics staff are all part of a mine's workforce. Lead with the skills the job ad asks for, and add site-specific experience such as permits, isolation procedures or working to a maintenance schedule.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need RII units for every mining job?
No. RII units are common for plant operator and production roles, but trades, processing, professional and support roles are assessed on other qualifications.
How should I list my mining tickets?
Use a separate qualifications section and write each one exactly as it appears on your certificate, including unit codes where relevant.
Is a mining resume different from a FIFO resume?
They overlap. A mining resume focuses on site type, equipment and qualifications; a FIFO resume also shows you understand rosters and remote work. Many roles need both.
Should I include my safety record?
Yes, where it's genuine — safety awards, incident-free periods you can verify, or safety representative roles all help.
Can Cailin Connex help with non-mining resumes?
Yes. Cailin Connex works for job seekers across many industries; mining and FIFO guides are just one part of the site.
